Rule 47
Extraordinary Holidays

(1) The employee must submit an application with the reason for taking extraordinary leave and if the reason is found to be reasonable, the committee may grant extraordinary leave not exceeding one year at a time and not exceeding three years throughout the service period.
(2) Employees on extraordinary leave will not be paid during that period. But according to sub-rule (10) of rule 42, the employee who is on extraordinary leave will get full salary for the period of such leave.
(3) Except as provided in rule 49, no employee shall be entitled to extraordinary leave before completing five years of government service. But according to sub-rule (10) of rule 42, this sub-rule shall not be considered as a hindrance to stay on extraordinary leave for additional sick leave.
(4) The period of extraordinary leave taken by the employee, except the extraordinary leave as per sub-rule (10) of rule 42, shall not be counted in his service period.
